Telefonica O2 new data offer sees the introduction of dynamic data allocation - a feature that enables Operators to automatically increase the data quota of a user based on the user's consumption pattern over a specified tenure. The new feature introduces the bundling of initial quota with 'data snacks' whereby a user who exceeds his data threshold can take advantage of up to 3 snacks of 100MB each for €2 per snack. A user who consumes all 3 data snacks for 3 consecutive months will then be automatically upgraded (via an SMS notification) to a package that comes with a 500MB or 1GB of data for an upgrade charge of €5. The tariff on the new quota will be determined based on the users' package. The new arrangment is available to O2 customers subscribing to the O2 Blue and O2 Blue Professional packages.

The data snack and dynamic data allocation bring to market an innovative mobile data product that addresses both short term bite-size data requirements as well as long term data usage needs. Bite-size data helps users to top-up their usage without having to make long term commitments. At the same time, the automatic upgrade allows operators to provide additional data to users who require it more often. In the case of O2, users can cancel the data package on a monthly basis, allowing them to use the upgraded package for only as long as they need the excess data.

Apart from this offer, O2 has also announced new EU Roaming Flat Options, allowing customers to surf using their data bundle up to 1 GB while they are abroad. The plan also includes incoming calls with flat rates on calls within the EU and for calls made from the EU to Germany.
