AT&T Launches 'Data Rollover' Weeks After T-Mobile Introduces 'Data Stash' Image Credit: AT&T

Beginning 25th of January, AT&T's customers who have extra unused data in their plans can bring the amount forward to the following month at no cost. According to AT&T which is currently the top mobile operator in US, the rollover feature is available to all Mobile Share Value customers and allows them to share the rolled over quota with anyone on the shared plan.

Announcing this at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, AT&T said that the rollover data works by topping up the following month's quota and can only be used once that month's original quota has beeen utilized. Once rolled over, the quota cannot be rolled over further. According to AT&T, customers can track their unused data through the myAT&T app or AT&T’s website.

The announcement by AT&T comes just 4 weeks after the 4th largest carrier in US, T-Mobile announced its 'data stash' offer, a similar data roll-over plan that works on an accumulation model akin to a savings account. For qualifying subscribers, T-Mobile deposits 10GB of free 4G LTE data into the plan's 'data stash' to start it off and subscribers can start topping it up with any unused data they wish to rollover. When subsribers are out of data, they can draw down from their 'stash'. T-Mobile's rollover plan allows subscribers to carry the unused data over and over again up to one year.
