BlackBerry on Wednesday demonstrated at the 2015 International CES, its Over-the-Top (OTT) messenger application, BBM on Android Wear smartwatches, where users will be able to access their BBM messages directly on their smartwatch without the need to reach for their smartphone. The smartphone maker which has already made BBM available on iOS and Android platforms announced that the messaging application can be accessed via a wide range of Android Wear™ smartwatches to enable BBM users to communicate faster and more discreetly on-the-go.

The BBM messenger integration to Android wear will also enable users to receive alerts and preview on the watch when new BBM messages arrive, in addition to being able to respond to messages via hands-free with Google Now or by selecting preset messages to send. It also gives flexibility to users to accept BBM invites from the watch without the need to access their smartphone. According to Blackberry, BBM for Android Wear features will become available on the watch automatically. 

While Blakcberry is pushing ahead with is plans for BBM, the company's rival Samsung, has announced that it will discontinue its OTT messenger service, ChatOn from the 1st of February 2015 worldwide.
