Satellite pay TV company DIRECTV has soft-launched its first over-the-top (OTT) streaming entertainment service, Yaveo, a Spanish-language bundle of channels for $7.99 per month with the first month free offer, ahead of OTT streaming bundles from Sony and Dish. Yaveo is only available in the United States, and subscribers don't need a DirecTV subscription to enjoy the new service. The company also received a big boost with a fresh content agreement with Walt Disney.
According to DIRECTV, Yaveo customers will access thousands of hours of programming including exclusive and hard-to-find content from the U.S., Latin America and Spain, the latest On Demand movies, as well as popular TV shows, children’s programming, novelas, music and documentaries. Customers will also have the ability to stream live sports and entertainment channels such as beIN Sports en Español, Cine Sony Television and ¡Hola! TV with more to be added soon.

Yaveo gets DIRECTV into the OTT business and we’re excited to start with a compelling Spanish-language service targeted to the Hispanic community. We’ll learn a great deal, use the findings to grow and improve the Yaveo platform and expand our OTT offering over time.
