In Brussels and boarding a taxi? Don't forget to try out the free 4G internet service available for taxi passengers in this city. The service is provided by Mobistar, one of the major operators in Belgium, whose 4G network covers 99% of the Brussels Region. The service which is enabled via a partnership between Taxis Verts and Mobistar is powered by a SIM placed in the taxi. The service kicks off with 50 taxis being transformed into mini mobile data hubs and extends on the existing partnership between both companies which allows Taxis Verts 1000 drivers to exchange data quickly and efficiently in real time with the taxi central office via their PDA.

According to Mobistar, the service enables the creation of an instant mobile office, whereby passengers can use the 20 minutes ride in the Capital of Europe to set up a video conference, update their schedule and consult online documents. Mobistar said that the service also comes with a charging facility allowing passengers to quickly charge their mobile devices.

Mobistar in its statement said that the partnership with Taxis Verts is part of its “Enterprise Mobility 3.0” strategy, which aims to provide connectivity services that allow enterprises to remain connected regardless of the location of its workforce and business processes. The mobile workforce is expected to benefit from the Taxis Verts - Mobistar initiative, and the tie-up may see similar services being introduced in other major cities in Europe.   .

Stephane Beauduin, Chief Enterprise and Wholesale Officer at Mobistar
With this offer, we supply yet another piece of the puzzle for those who want to be able to work any place anytime and we make the mobile office a reality for Taxis Verts clients in Brussels. In early September, a partnership was signed with De Lijn for free Internet on busses and trams in Ghent and Antwerp.

Michel Pêtre, CEO of Taxis Verts
As market leader in Brussels, this new service is for us the next step in the pursuit of the best possible customer service. Our clients want to spend their time in a taxi as usefully as possible. By offering them free Internet and a charging station, we seamlessly meet their needs. After this test phase that will last until the end of Q1 2015, our intention is to expand the offer as needed.
