Telefónica is expanding its partnership with Zubie by bringing the company's Connected Car services to its customers in Brazil. Earlier this month, Telefonica announced its collaboration with Zubie to offer Zubie's Connected Car service for Telefónica's customers in Germany via O2Germany. Zubie's Connected Car service enables drivers to access their car via their mobile device - enabling them to keep up with information such as driving patterns, battery levels, fuel consumption and location of their vehicle.

According to Zubie,  the latest expansion sees it entering the Brazilian market, one of the markets where the Connected Car services is poised to record strong growth in years to come. Zubie enters this market under Telefónica's 'Vivo" brand and its solution is expected to be available for Brazilian subscribers from the middle of next year.

The rapid growth taking place within the Connected Car segment this year is spurred partly by the availability of end-user mobile applications such as that of Zubie's, which offers users an easy and simple method to stay connected to their vehicles regardless of their location. With the application available on both Android and iOS devices, subscribers will have access to Zubie's Cloud which then updates the information it collects from vehicles onto the end user devices via a user-friendly and engaging interface offered on Zubie's application.

We are delighted to continue our international expansion with our global partner Telefónica. The Brazil market opportunity for connected car solutions is robust, and the combination of the local strength of Vivo along with Zubie’s cloud-based data, apps, and car device solution will be very powerful in Brazil.

The moment is now for the connected car and with our partnership with Zubie, Telefónica Vivo is leading in this space by bringing innovative automotive related consumer services to market.  This initiative is one of several others guided by Telefónica Global Strategy to deploy digital solutions taking advantage of its connectivity and driving Vivo to the leadership of local M2M market.
