Telefonica and Zubie this week announced their collaboration on M2M Connected Car services for Telefonica's subscribers in Germany. Drivers in Germany will now have access to Zubie's connected car platform that will be offered under the 'O2 Car Connection' brand by Telefonica. With the new tie-up, Zubie, a leading provider of solutions and services in the connected car segment will start its expansion in Europe, as one of the first US connected car companies to work with a European wireless company, said Zubie in a recent statement.

According to Zubie, the service which will be debuted this month will leverage the widespread use of mobile devices and the strong car market in Germany to push for the adoption of connected car services. Zubie's service enables drivers to 'connect' to their car through their mobile devices on which drivers can monitor among others, their driving patterns, detect battery levels, monitor fuel consumption and track the whereabouts of family and friends.

Zubie said that the expansion to Europe marks another milestone in the company's growth for this year, after the recent funding it received from Nokia Growth Partners and Magna automotive and its partnership with Progressive insurance on usage based insurance for cars.

"We are excited to be launching Zubie in Germany with O2 and aligning with the one of the world's leading wireless companies, Telefónica. We are witnessing continued momentum, both abroad and in the U.S. This international partnership demonstrates how Zubie's connected car data and mobile app solutions can benefit multiple industry segments especially the consumers as the end users."

More than 75 percent of people in Germany won't leave home without their mobile phones, and the car is one of the German consumer's favorite and most important possessions. O2 Car Connection brings those two trends together: You are connected with your car at anytime, anywhere via your smartphone."
