Zubie's Connected Car Services Enables Drivers to Earn Usage-Based Discounts on Insurance from Progressive

Zubie, provider of connected car service focused on making driving easier, safer and less expensive announced a new partnership between the company and Progressive, an insurance provider specializing in auto insurance. Both companies are collaborating on an industry-first telematics solution to deliver savings to consumers for their safe driving.

According to Zubie and Progressive, Zubie's connected car service customers will be earning discounts on their auto insurance scheme from Progressive based on their driving records which are collected and transmitted via Zubie's connected car services. In a statement by Zubie and Progressive, the companies said that this is the first partnership of its kind in the US where an insurer uses data from a third party connected car service provider to determine the insurance payments payable by its insurance clients.

Zubie said that drivers can access feedback on their driving and make smarter decisions about their driving behaviour using its Zubie services where all that the driver needs to do is plug in the Zubie Key into the car’s on-board diagnostic port and let the program send the feedback directly to the drivers’ Android or iPhone device. Zubie's customers however are given the option of sharing their driver data with Progressive in order to earn the discount which is available through its Snapshot program.

"With Snapshot, we’re always looking for ways to help more people participate in the program and save money on their auto insurance. Now Zubie customers can take advantage of this option using their Zubie Key. By using the driving data that the customer is already sharing with Zubie, we make the process even easier for customers.”

-        Dave Pratt, General Manager of Usage-Based Insurance, Progressive

"Progressive and Zubie share the same vision of making the road safer by arming customers with the right tools to make smart decisions about their driving habits. This partnership empowers consumers by providing valuable driving data and insights to help them both drive better and save money.”

-        Tim Kelly, CEO, Zubie
