Globe Philippines Spices Up its MegaByte-Sized GoSurf Plans with Free Spotify and Anti-Bill Shock Guarantee

Globe Telecom from Philippines unveils its latest GoSURF data package that is usage-based, a shift from its earlier GoSURF unlimited data plans. Usage-based plans give data subscribers the flexibility to pay for exactly the amount of data they consume, without having to commit to fixed monthly charges typical of unlimited data plans.

According to Globe, the usage-based plans will enable its customers to retain their user experience to the last megabyte consumed, unlike unlimited plans and some quota-based plans which throttle the speeds to a lower level when the quota threshold is hit resulting in slower connection speeds which can significantly impact a user's experience on rich content such as video streaming. With the usage-based plans, subscribers can choose from a wide range of data packs, from as small as 10 MB to as big as 15 GB.

Globe, in its statement said that the new GoSURF package comes with an anti-bill shock guarantee as well as 6 months free access to Spotify, the premium music streaming service with more than 30 million songs. Globe's move to introduce the new GoSURF plan is expected to encourage subscribers on unlimited data plans to shift to more flexible plans that will enhance their mobile browsing and data consumption experience. Globe also added that its network now boasts 100% 3G coverage and will have 100% 4G HSPA+ coverage by end of this September, serving more than 44 million mobile and broadband customers.

We are glad that Globe has spearheaded this shift in consumer preference, driving consumable data plans that aim to provide a more wonderful mobile service experience incomparable to previous offers that are still subject to the Fair Use Policy (FUP). The GoSURF data plans offer a wide range of consumable data plan, for as low as P10 for 10 MB to as high as P2499 for 15 GB."
