A leading telecommunications service provider in Malaysia, DiGi Telecommunications has rolled out an add-on service on its data packages, specifically for YouTube access. YouTube which is a video sharing platform that has become a household name worldwide for the widest variety of content it hosts, including subscription based content, is visited more than one billion unique visitors monthly. Malaysians are part of the growing number of people worldwide who go to Youtube for news, entertainment and information on a daily basis. 

Digi's add-on service, called the YouTube Internet Top Up Package is offered at RM1 (USD0.31) for 100MB that is valid for 24 hours. The offer is available for both postpaid and prepaid customers.

Digi joins a host of other service providers worldwide that are offering content-based deals on their data packages. Facebook and Twitter are examples of other social sharing sites that are often bundled as part of the data package. More recently, Operators are offering music packages, as either part of the tariff plan or as an add-on service, bundling content provided by music streaming sites such as Rhapsody and Spotify. T-Mobile, Magyar Telecom and Telefonica are some of the big Operators who have rolled out music content to their data subscribers in recent months, enabling subscribers to access hundreds of thousands of music files from their mobile devices.
