Tre Sweden (3 Sweden) has officially launched its 5G network in Malmö, Helsingborg, Lund, Västerås, Uppsala and large parts of Stockholm. In December last year, the Operator was the first in Sweden to launch a trial 5G network - then in southern Stockholm.

With nearly 400 active 5G masts, half of them in Stockholm, Tre said that it now has Sweden's most developed 5G network. The 5G network is activated using Tres' existing frequency spectrum.

Today, Tre has a total of 385 5G masts, including 200 in Stockholm, and work is underway to upgrade even more masts. Tre's 5G network currently work with a number of 5G-compatible mobiles (Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Lite 5G, Huawei P40 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 10, Sony Xperia 1 II) and as more mobiles are released on the market, more and more customers will be able to use Tres 5G networks, said the Operator.

All private customers with a 3Surf subscription from Tre and a 3G mobile from Tre, can access to the new 5G network at no extra cost. The same applies to corporate customers who have subscribed after January 15, 2019.

Haval Van Drumpt, CEO of Tre Sverige
We have worked hard to upgrade 4G masts to 5G masts during winter and spring, and will not slow down this summer. After the real 5G frequencies become available, we will expand and give our customers 5G in top class.

Per Stigenberg, Technical Director, Tre
This is the first step where we use the frequency spectrum we already have access to. After the real 5G frequencies become available around the turn of the year, our customers will be able to get significantly faster speeds.
