At the recently concluded GSMA WAS#9 event which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Tara Neal, Executive Editor of The Fast Mode spoke to Roneel Prasad, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of 365squared, an international value-added services enabler serving mobile network operators across the globe. 365squared focuses on monetization of application-to-person (A2P) SMS traffic, elimination of revenue losses from SMS termination and protection against spam and fraud.

Roneel discussed among others the importance of access to subscriber data for Operators in order for them to market the right products and services to their customers. In terms of challenges faced by Operators in monetization of their messaging business, Roneel highlighted the fragmentation within Operator organizations which overshadows the overall monetization goal for the messaging business. He also spoke about the inaccurate perspective on monetization of messaging which leads to Operators thinking that it is a cumbersome and difficult task and hence, the lack of pro-active actions to enhance revenues in this segment.

Addressing these challenges, Roneel shared on the solutions offered by 365squared which greatly simplify the monetization of messaging partly due to the fact that they are vendor agnostic, requiring no investments in additional firewalls but instead offer a ‘plug-and-play’ solution that works with existing firewalls on an Operator’s messaging network. The solution works via analytics that allow Operators to control their messaging traffic thus eliminating spam, fraud and other revenue leakages that may take place on their networks.
