At the recently concluded GSMA WAS#9 event which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Tara Neal, Executive Editor of The Fast Mode spoke to Pedro Carmo e Silva, VP Operator Relations of Sinch, a provider of a leading cloud communications platform for mobile messaging, voice and video for mobile operators around the world. Sinch solutions cover messaging, charging & policy control, revenue assurance and fraud prevention.

Pedro discussed among others the trends in the Operator messaging market, highlighting the increasingly important role played by Operator messaging in the engagement of end customers especially across today's Enterprises. Pedro also touched on Rich Communication Services (RCS) as an emerging tool that is expected to take Operators messaging business to the next level. Pedro also highlighted the major monetization challenges faced by Operators on their messaging business, namely revenue leakage coming from the prevalence of gray routes, spam, bypass and fraud and the need for solutions that can address these. Pedro expects rich messaging to be in huge demand in coming years especially for business looking to further engage their customers. On Sinch’s growth over the years, Pedro spoke on both its organic growth as well as some acquisitions made by the company and shared on Sinch’s market presence across the globe today.
