Finnish-Estonian mobile operator Elisa has launched the world’s first commercial 5G networks in Tampere and Tallinn and has started offering '5G-ready' subscription plans.

Just a month back, Saudi Arabia's Ooredoo also claimed first to launch a live 5G network on the 3.5GHz spectrum band within the Doha city.

Elisa's 5G network operates on a temporary license in a 3.5GHz band and the Operator anticipates an official 5G spectrum allocation to be carried out in autumn. A Minister from Finland was the first person to use the new 5G network to make a video call to another Minister in Estonia. Elisa, in collaboration with Huawei, used the first commercial 5G terminal devices in the world to make the call.

The price of a worry-free 5G Ready tariff is 39.90 euros per month for the first 12 months and 49.90 euros for every subsequent month, according to mobiili fiThe subscription includes unlimited talk, text and multimedia messages as well as unlimited data usage within the Nordic and Baltic countries.
