Tele 2 announced that the Huawei Watch 2, the first 4G sport smartwatch to use eSIM in Europe, is now available for sale in Norway and Estonia.

In 2016, Telia was first in the Nordic and Baltic region to launch the eSIM, an embedded SIM, that connects devices such as watches, health bands and tablets to the mobile network without having to insert a SIM card.

The Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch and the eSIM solution is launched in partnership with Huawei and Oberthur Technologies. It is now availabe in Telia’s stores in Estonia and in the Telia brands OneCall and Chess in Norway.

The platform that Telia Company uses for these solutions is now upgraded to be fully compatible with the latest eSIM phase 2 standard from GSMA, anticipating rollout of further devices in all markets,  based on local demand.
