Openet, a global leader of real-time transaction management software and services, has released a new white paper entitled 'Virtualizing BSS to Accelerate Service Innovation', discussing the evolution of BSS from revenue management systems to platforms that accelerate service innovations in the digital economy. Service innovations are becoming increasingly critical especially within the telecommunications sector as service providers and network operators are challenged with the commoditization of their traditional services, the loss of revenues to Over-the-Top (OTT) players and competition from alternative providers, such as MVNOs. The pace of service innovations determines whether service providers are able to quickly transform their monetization strategies and leverage on newer services including mobile commerce, m2m services and other verticals within the digital services and internet-of-things (IoT).
