Zegona Communications, an investment firm which is listed on the London Stock Exchange, has issued a statement that it is in exclusive talks with TeliaSonera over a possible offer for TeliaSonera’s Spanish operations Yoigo.

TeliaSonera confirmed that it is in exclusive talks with Zegona. The Swedish operator has a 76.6% stake in Yoigo.

The possible acquisition follows Zegona's earlier move in the Spanish telecoms market where in July last year, the company acquired telecom operator Telecable for $706 million. TeliaSonera in the meantime, has been divesting its interest in some other markets. Last December, the operator agreed to sell its 60.4 percent ownership in Nepalese operator Ncell to the Axiata Group.
