KPN has acquired Solcon, a Dutch supplier of internet, fixed and mobile telephony, hosting, TV and secure e-mail services for consumers and businesses.

The acquisition strengthens KPN’s position in the provision of broadband services. The transaction was finalized at the end of June.

Based in Dronten, the Netherlands, Solcon was founded in 1996 by CEO Peter van der Vlies. Solcon provides internet, fixed and mobile telephony, and TV services to approximately 45,000 private customers. It also operates in the business market with hosting, internet and datacenter services. The company, which has approximately 75 employees, will continue to operate independently in the market under its own brand name.

Solcon will continue the provide its private and business customers with high quality services, also after the transaction.
