Telia Company announced aquisition of regional cable MSO in Sweden, C-SAM. The acquisition gives Telia access to C-SAM's 11,000 customers, taking over responsible for the existing fiber and cable network in Södertälje, Järna and Nykvarn.

The acquisition of C-SAM is an important part of Telia to help Södertälje municipality's senior broadband targets, where all residents and businesses will be offered a broadband connection by 2022. Telia said that it shares the municipality's goal of open and neutral networks where the customer gets access to a wide range of service providers.

The acquisition is made by Telia buys all the shares in C-SAM AB. The daily operations will be run by the Swedish Urban Networks AB, which is a separate company within Telia.

C-SAM had sales of SEK 36 million in 2016.

Anders Andersen, Head of Telia Fiber Business
We are strengthening our local presence in Södertälje where C-SAM has gained a strong position among its customers. Telia has since 2015 invested more than 6 billion on the expansion of super-fast fiber broadband and the acquisition is part of efforts to build a digital world class infrastructure.

Olof Mattiasson, founder of C-SAM
I am happy and proud that TeliaSonera will take over as the owner of C-SAM. With Telia's experience of running local open networks, along with the strength of being part of a larger group, there are good opportunities to continue developing the business for the benefit of local residents and customers.
