UK mobile operator, EE in its third quarter financial results announcement unveiled that it has doubled its 4G base in 12 months, making it the largest 4G operator in Europe. EE's 4G customer base increased by 1.7 million (7 million on a year-to-year basis) to reach 12.6 million, representing more than 52% of total EE mobile customer base. EE's 4G is now rolled out to 93% of the population, around 20% more than competitors.
The operator also recorded net adds of 190,000 postpaid customers, including machine-to-machine (M2M) over the quarter to bring total connections to 31.3 million.
According to EE, 63% of its base is now on postpaid, delivering seven-times higher ARPU than prepaid. EE’s revenues for the quarter however, remained flat with its operating revenue from mobile service, fixed and wholesale business areas totaling £1.5 billion, down 0.6 per cent on a year-to-year basis.
