Mobistar, a leading mobile operator in Belgium, last week, reported its financial results for the first quarter of 2015, with its core profit (EBITDA) showing an increase of 6.8 percent to EUR68.8 million. Mobistar however, experienced a 4.3% decline in consolidated revenues which stood at EUR303.4 million, compared to EUR317.0 million reported for the same period last year.
According to Mobistar, its blended ARPU in Belgium increased for the second time in a row, to EUR23.9 in the first quarter of 2015 compared to EUR23.4 a year ago, indicating an increase of 2.0%. The postpaid ARPU also grew by 3.8 % year-on-year versus +1.8 % in the previous quarter, attributable to the company's focus on value management, said Mobistar, which also saw its 4G postpaid customer base growing 19 % in the first quarter compared to the end of 2014.
Mobistar said that it will launch its own very high speed broadband internet & digital TV cable services in Belgium following the publication of the consultation document by regulatory authorities governing these services.
