Idea Cellular has reported a 34.1% year-on-year (y-o-y) growth in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) for the quarter ended December 2014. Idea's net profit reached Rs 767 crore, 1.5 percent higher compared to Rs 756 crore the previous quarter. The largest mobile operator in India has announced that it has reached 150 million subscribers, adding 22.2 million subscribers last year.
Idea has posted a steady growth in the mobile data segment in the last quarter, with the company's combined Mobile data subscriber base on 2G and 3G network increasing by 8.6 million in 2014 to 34.2 million. Idea also recorded an increase in the average revenue per user (ARPU) by Rs.35 last year to Rs.126. Its average usage per Data Subscriber’ has also grown to 470 MB per user in last quarter compared to 309 MB in the same period a year ago. During the last quarter, Idea recorded a 16.9% increase in its total mobile data traffic on the 2G and 3G network combined to 46.1 billion Megabytes.
