Indonesia's SmartFren Aims 5 Million 4G Subscribers by end of 2016

Indonesia 4G mobile operator, SmartFren has set ambitious targets to get five million 4G subscribers by the end of 2016 and to expand its service coverage to 85 cities from 22 currently, reported Deal Street Asia. The company’s President Director Merza Fachys said in a press statement that the carrier has sufficient financial reserves to meet its rollout targets.

At the same time, the operator is extending its partnership with Lenovo to bundle a starter pack which will be featuring the latest Lenovo A6010 smartphone which supports 4G LTE-Advanced. Under the bundle, Smartfren offers customers a ‘bonus’ of 2GB of data that can be used up to five days after activation. 

Smartfren has commercially launched its 4G LTE-Advanced service in 22 major cities of Indonesia in the last quarter of last year. Its new 4G LTE-Advanced leverages both the FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE standards to increase bandwidth, enabling customers to enjoy improved multimedia streaming, online games, cloud storage and video conferencing.
