Probably the first of its kind, Singtel, Singapore's leading mobile operator is giving away free local data access for the whole day today, the 9th of August. According to a statement from SingTel, the promotion is offered to its customers in conjunction with Singapore's national day celebrations today. With the unlimited local data access, SingTel customers can access a wide range of local content from music to videos and a wide range of applications on their mobile devices without paying a single cent.
According to SingTel, subscribers can also enjoy various other promotions from 8th to 10 of August, including 49% discount on selected Video-On-Demand titles from its mio TV and free previews of selected movies and ethnic channels such as FOX Movies Premium HD, STAR Chinese Movies HD, Astro Prima and SONY MAX. In addition, customers who take up any of SingTel's mobile plan (Value Plan and above) are entittled to an additional 4.9GB free data for 3 consecutive months on top of discounts on their device purchase made on any SingTel's mobile plan (Lite Plan and above). For those signing up on its MobileShare and TalkMore Unlimited plan, a free 1 GB of local data will be given free for every month for 12 months. These promotions end tomorrow except for the free local data usage for the whole day which is applicable only for today.
