Alcatel Lucent Alcatel Lucent

Patrick Tan, general manager, network intelligence, Alcatel-Lucent, has blogged on the LTE uptake, the subscriber and volume growth detected in actual networks as well as their impact on 3G networks in Analytics Beat. The segment presents analysis by ALU's Wireless Network Guardian analytics experts on the latest trends, data and behaviors affecting the mobile services.

According to the analysis, LTE data volume has been growing at 31% per month on average and it has positively impacted mobile data revenues. The mobile data revenues has increased by an average of +12.3% year over year while ARPU increased by 14.4% for the same period. Interestingly, the uptake in 4G LTE is seen to channel away more than 1/3 of the traffic on the 3G network in a year. With this taking place, MNOs need to re-distribute the backhaul capacity to support 4G growth.
