The Communications Service Provider (CSP) - Goverment collaboration will see the roll out of more connection and services to areas and users throughout the country, as being connected to internet becomes a socio-economic priority and a strategy to deliver services and improve life experiences. Orange, via its 'Digital Villages' intiatiative brings high quality internet connection to selected areas via multiple means - from fibre broadband to wireless connections to bring almost 100% coverage and enhance quality of connection. Orange has recently launched the 'Digital Villages' in the town of Palaiseau in France, with a 100% penetration target by end of 2013. Palaiseau, which is located in the southern suburbs of Paris with around 30k population is Oranges' pilot project and to date they have successfully achieved 90% home pass. According to Orange, the rollout also enables any operator that wants to launch services for the people of Palaiseau to make use of the fibre network to offer its services. For the first time anywhere in the world, on the scale of an entire town, a major operator is now providing all its mass market services and a portion of its professional and business services via fibre alone. This increased usage translates into a growing tendency for Orange's customers to choose more extensive offers (2/3 of fibre customers in Palaiseau have chosen a top of the range or premium offer). Palaiseau shows that fibre boosts usage and that there is certainly a strong appetite for high value offers.

Stéphane Richard, Chairman and CEO of Orange, in the presence of Fleur Pellerin, Minister Delegate attached to the Ministry for Industrial Renewal, with responsibility for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Innovation and the Digital Economy, and of Claire Robillard, Mayor of Palaiseau, presents a positive and encouraging report on “Palaiseau, the town with 100% fibre”, showing the growth in internet usage stimulated by fibre.
