Price War Continues as Reliance Communications Slashes 50% on its 3G Data Plans

The price competition just got stiffer in India with Reliance Communications making major downward adjustments in their data plan pricing. 1GB package now goes for Rupee123 (slightly over USD2) and priced linearly for 2GB and 4GB plans. The new prices make data on 3G services to be priced at 2G rates, providing a major impetus for existing subscribers to upgrade their services to the 3G network.

"Only one-fourth of people who own 3G phones truly use 3G services. There is a huge barrier to affordability. We are cutting the 3G prices down to the 2G data rates," RCom president and CEO for Wireless, Gurdeep Singh said.
