WiFi 69% Faster than Cellular

'WiFi 69% Faster than Cellular' says the recent infographics released by WeFi on WiFi services in the US. (Click on the thumbnail for the full image). With its speed recording a national average of 2.76 Mbps, WiFi definitely provides faster connection and hence more data transfer compared to what is experienced on mobile data, which covers the 3G and 4G networks.

With smart devices on a rapid rise thanks to more and more people getting accustomed to conducting daily transactions on the go - chatting, shopping, bill paying, banking and even job searching- WiFi seems to cater just what everyone needs while they are out and about. As more outlets including cafes and stores provide free WiFi and coupled with WiFi hotspots around the most convenient locations, its unsurprising that data connections via WiFi will continue to rise in near future. According to the infographics, WiFi speed is highest in states with more people but very high density brings the speed lower as does the low density. It also highlighted ESPN video streams, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter as some of the main applications on the Internet and that except for Twitter which by design requires less data volume for its 140 character 'tweets', the others do consume a significant bulk of data on the internet.
