Internet Control - Social policies push DPI/Firewall Technology Innovation

Openet Openet

With further innovations in the Deep Packet Inspection (DPIs) and Firewalls, encripted virtual private network (VPN) will no longer be able to bypass controls, traffic shaping by internet service providers on web content. The new capability enables DPIs and Firewalls to terminate VPN connections and remove access to the undesired sites. Other methods used to control internet content access include Domain Name System (DNS) blacklisting and Internet Protocol (IP) control mechanism. With the emergence of protocol signatures, content control mechanisms must evolve further to keep pace with the technological advancements in clients' softwares.
