Reliance Communications(RCOM) said in a statement that the company has accepted resignation of Vinod Sawhny as the CEO with effect from September 30, 2016 to enable him and his family to relocate to New Delhi for personal reasons.

Sawhny, who joined Reliance Communications in 2014 from Bharti Airtel will be replaced by William (Bill) Barney and Gurdeep Singh who will function as acting Co-CEOs of the Company with immediate effect.

The announcement comes two weeks after RCom announced the merger of its wireless business with Aircel.

Sawhny had also worked for over 10 years at the Bharti Group, where he had been Joint President (Airtel Enterprises), Executive Director, CEO Airtel (Mobility) and President and COO of Bharti Retail.
