Niklas Sonkin, COO of Tele2 will be leaving the company but will remain as Chairman of the Board of Tele2’s JV operations in some markets.

October last year, Niklas who that time was the Executive Vice President, Market Area Director, Eurasia & acting CTIO was appointed as the company's EVP & COO. In the role, he oversees all CTIO and shared operations for the Group, and maintains responsibility for Kazakhstan and Germany. He joined Tele2 in 2009 and has since then been responsible for developing the company’s operations outside of Sweden and the Netherlands. 

Fredrik Stenberg, currently Director of Customer Operations and member of the Shared Operations Leadership Team, will assume the position as acting COO. Tele2 said it will immediately commence a search for a replacement.

I would like to express my appreciation to Niklas for his many contributions, which have included the growth of our Baltic markets, the restructuring of our German operations and in the establishment of our JV in Kazakhstan.
