South Africa-based Operator, MTN Group has appointed Rob Shuter as the new Group President and CEO of the company to replace Sifisco Dabengwa, who resigned last November. He is expected to join in in 2017 after the completion of his current contractual obligations. 

Rob, a South African national, is the current CEO of the European Cluster at Vodafone Group and has extensive experience in telecoms and banking having held senior management roles at Vodacom Group, Standard Bank and Nedbank prior to joining Vodafone Group. 

MTN also appointed Godfrey Motsa to oversee operations in the SEA Region (excluding South Africa). Godfrey joins from Vodacom where he was Chief Officer for Consumer Business. Godfrey was previously CEO of Vodacom DRC Congo and CEO of Vodacom Lesotho. 

According to MTN, it had also appointed a new head of mergers, acquisitions and strategy to focus on new revenue streams, with plans to announce the appointee at the end of this month.
