Philippines Long Distance Telephone (PLDT), Tuesday announced that its president and CEO Napoleon Nazareno will be retiring by the end of this year. Napoleon will remain on the Board of Directors of PLDT until his successor is appointed, said the company. In the mean time, PLDT chair Manuel V. Pangilinan will assume the role of president and CEO.
PLDT also announced changes in the company's senior management roles with the appointment of Kat Luna-Abelarde as Wireless Consumer Operations head, Renren Reyes as PLDT Home Operations head and Mitch Locsin as head of SME Business.
In another statement, the Operator commented on the company's initiatives to-date and shared its vision for the future, saying that the initiatives required "not only converting PLDT’s legacy landline system into an all-internet protocol next generation network but, more importantly, reinvigorating the structure and culture of PLDT into a much more market-driven, customer-centric organization."
