Network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN) firm, Metaswitch Networks, Wednesday has appointed Martin Lund as the company's new CEO, taking over from John Lazar who will become chairman of its board of directors. Lund will lead Metaswitch into the next phase of its growth, building on the momentum in its business and consumer communications, network interconnect, and cloud network virtualization solutions.

Lund who holds a degree in electronic engineering from Frederiksberg Technical College and Risø National Laboratory at the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen joins Metaswitch in 2012 and was the senior vice president and general manager of the company's IP Group. Prior to that, he held a number of top management positions, including senior vice president and general manager of the Network Switching Business in Broadcom and leadership roles at Intel.

John Lazar, In-Coming, Chairman, Metaswitch Networks
Martin's extensive experience in the technology industry, which includes having built and led a multibillion-dollar business unit at a Fortune 500 company, will be instrumental in helping us guide Metaswitch during the next stage of its development and growth.
