BlackBerry Announces Marty Beard as New COO

Blackberry, a leader in mobile communications and pioneer of the first generation smartphones and tablets, announced the appointment of Marty Beard as its new Chief Operating Officer. Headquarted in Ontario, Canada, BlackBerry dominated the smartphones and tablets scene before Android and Apple devices took a significant share of the market.

According to Blackberry, Marty Beard will assume his new position immediately, overseeing cross-functional organizations, including Marketing, BlackBerry 10 Application Development, Customer Care and Quality and establishing best practices and processes for the organization.

Prior to his appointment as the COO, Marty was the Chairman and CEO of LiveOps, Inc., a leading provider of cloud applications for customer service where he improved customer service interactions by leveraging on cloud based solutions and services. Before his tenure at LiveOps, Marty was President of Sybase 365 (a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc.), a mobile messaging and mobile commerce services unit, where he also served in other executive positions including SVP of Marketing.  His sales and customer management experience extends to his other previous roles including his position at Oracle as Vice President of Oracle Online, its e-Commerce service unit where he was responsible for leveraging the Web to improve customer sales and support.

“BlackBerry continues to attract top talent to the company.  Marty brings extensive experience in operations, marketing and serving customers through the best technologies and processes available."
