PoLTE Corporation, a LTE-Based precise ondoor/outdoor positioning startup, this week announced the appointment of Ed Chao, a former senior technology executive at MetroPCS, as the new CEO of the company.

PoLTE’s location technologies leverage existing LTE networks to offer the most ubiquitous and accurate geolocation seamlessly indoors and outdoors. The company said its Lite-Touch architecture completely transforms the IoT market, allowing 4G and 5G cellular-connected IoT devices to have the longest battery life and lowest cost at the smallest size possible. PoLTE changes IoT economics by enabling vendors to eliminate the need for a GPS chipset, further decreasing the cost of IoT modules.

Chao brings 26 years of executive leadership experience in the global wireless industry to help position PoLTE as the premier geolocation technology provider for IoT and mobile devices.

Chao played a key role in the merger of MetroPCS with T-Mobile U.S. As an executive at Lucent Technologies, Chao helped establish the company’s leadership in building the mobile internet by bringing 2G and 3G wireless network solutions to operators globally. Chao also served with the US Digital Service at the White House leading top digital talent from the industry to transform the user experience of citizenship and immigration services.

Chao holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University. He is a co-inventor of three patents.
