Ooredoo Qatar announced that it has achieved more than 300,000 fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) connections across the country.

Ooredoo said the achievement is another stage in ensuring every household in the country enjoys the full benefits of the Ooredoo Supernet. In June, Ooredoo launched its new 1Gbps Fibre plan as the company continues to upgrade its nationwide Ooredoo Supernet network.

Earlier this year, Ooredoo launched Ooredoo TV, a new product which combines apps, on-demand and live television in one easy-to-use box that works over its fiber broadband. The success of Ooredoo Fibre in reaching homes across the nation has stimulated the rapid take-up of IPTV, 4K and other smart services in Qatar, said Ooredoo.

Qatar will be the second-fastest growing telecom services market in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region in 2016, according to Pyramid Research. The market research firm estimates the telecom service revenue to grow at a CAGR of 5.1% during 2016-2021, primarily driven by growth in data revenue.
