India's second largest mobile operator, Vodafone is reportedly in early discusssion to acquire 4G LTE spectrum from Tikona Digital Networks, a Mumbai-based Internet service provider, to expand its high-speed broadband network across the country.

Tikona holds 4G spectrum in the 2300 MHz band in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, UP (East), UP (West) and Rajasthan. At present, only Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are the major operators holding 4G LTE spectrum in the 2300 MHz band. 

Vodafone India has recently debuted its commercial 4G services with the launch of the service in Kochi, Kerala. The service which is delivered on the 1800 MHz frequency band saw the operator investing more than Rs700 crores in the southern state of India for network expansion and modernization.
