Hollywood Movie Giant MGM Invests in South East Asia OTT TV Startup iFlix Image Credit: iflix

iflix, Southeast Asia’s Over-the-Top (OTT) TV startup, today announced that Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed and prestigious studios has become an investor in the business. As part of the investment, MGM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Gary Barber will join iflix’s Advisory Board and the companies’ extensive multi-year content licensing partnership.

iFlix has already launched its OTT TV service in Malaysia and the Philippines and is planning to enter Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. The company claims to have over 160k subscribers within three months of its launch.

Through the agreement, MGM will contribute its premium in-demand television and film content that comprises a portion of the 20,000 movies and television episodes that make up iflix’s extraordinary library of top entertainment content.
