Robi Axiata, the second largest mobile operator in Bangladesh and Teletalk, one of the smallest mobile operators in the country have agreed to share each-others’ telecom network located across the country.

Robi’s Managing Director and CEO, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed and Teletalk’s Managing Director, Kazi Md. Golam Kuddus recently signed an agreement on behalf of their respective organizations at the Teletalk Head Office.

It is expected that this landmark decision will significantly improve the network experience of the subscribers of these two companies.

Besides, this measure will also help to make the most optimal use of the existing network sites of the companies. Sharing of network sites will also enable the companies to expedite the 4G network roll-out process as soon as the 4G license is awarded to the mobile network operators.

The number of subscribers of the country's four mobile operators -- Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi and Teletalk -- at the end of June, 2017 stood at 61.579 million, 31.572 million, 39.570 million and 3.260 million respectively, reported Xiahua Net.
