In conjunction with MWC Barcelona 2022 which will be taking place from the 28th of February to the 3rd of March, Tara Neal, Executive Editor of The Fast Mode spoke to André Gunnberg, Chief Revenue Officer at MATRIXX on the company's plans and showcases for this year's event.

Tara: What do you think MWC 2022 will be all about? And what are your MWC 2022 plans?

André: We expect to see a big focus on infrastructure, especially with 5G deployments behind where they should be almost across the board. 5G core is another important topic, as operators are still working to strengthen their architecture ahead of full 5G deployment. Of course, most importantly to us, we’re seeing greater interest in the monetization of 5G! Operators are spending large sums of money to build out their next generation infrastructure and are very focused on how they’re going to open up new revenue opportunities. While MATRIXX Software is not exhibiting at this year's event due to the pandemic, we will be bringing a small contingency, including myself, to meet with operators.

Tara: How has the pandemic impacted the operational and business landscape of the tech segment you are operating in?

André: Like everyone, the global lockdowns and travel restrictions have forced us to change every aspect of how we operate. While it’s been often mentioned that the pandemic crammed 10 years of digital transformation into a two year window, telecom operators around the globe are working hard to keep up with today’s demands while also building and deploying 5G infrastructure. Perhaps one of the biggest outcomes of businesses moving entirely online is that we are seeing a desire to accelerate digital offerings in the run up to 5G. This is changing buying requirements, with a significant increase in demand for cloud native solutions that offer flexibility and agility without sacrificing security or performance. This is a sweet spot for our Digital Commerce Platform.

Tara: What emerging trends/technologies have you observed in your tech segment in recent months?

André: There are a lot of exciting trends moving forward thanks to 5G. For B2B, campus-based and private networks are providing opportunities for new types of services providers, while gaming and AR/VR use cases are driving new experiences for consumers. We believe this year the focus on 5G standalone core will continue and will provide additional potential for CSPs to monetize via new types of metrics -- on a more granular basis -- to improve ROI on the 5G network investment. We do still see a need for the business side of telcos to embrace and lean in on this opportunity.

As Chief Revenue Officer, André Gunnberg is responsible for helping our customers transform their businesses into successful digital leaders powered by MATRIXX patented technologies. With over 20 years of leadership experience in the telecom and software industry, André’s depth of knowledge is unparalleled.
