In conjunction with MWC Barcelona 2022 which will be taking place from the 28th of February to the 3rd of March, Tara Neal, Executive Editor of The Fast Mode spoke to Morgan Stern, Vice President of Automation Strategy at Itential on the company's plans and showcases for this year's event.

Tara: What do you think MWC 2022 will be all about? And what are your MWC 2022 plans?

Morgan: We expect to see increased momentum related to full scale deployment of 5G and 5G related technologies, including ORAN, MEC, SASE, and end-to-end automation/orchestration. We will see how businesses address the new technical challenges arising as edge computing becomes more mainstream in the form of 5G and cloud-based programs, particularly as they begin to roll out across more consumer devices.

Tara: How has the pandemic impacted the operational and business landscape of the tech segment you are operating in?

Morgan: The pandemic has forced enterprises to deploy applications in cloud platforms at an increasingly rapid pace. The need for agility and flexibility has also stressed the operational capacity of many of our customers, based on shifting demand to a more distributed workforce and constraints created by the global supply chain crisis.

Tara: What emerging trends/technologies have you observed in your tech segment in recent months?

Morgan: We are seeing increased investment in automation not only for network creation but for network operations to address the growing complexity of modern network environments and emergence of CSP/hyperscaler edge/MEC initiatives. Additionally, there are some enterprise companies beginning to shift from multiple cloud deployments to multi-cloud, exploring the need for compliance in those cloud environments, and adopting network automation solutions.

Morgan Stern serves as the Vice President of Automation Strategy for Itential, where he is responsible for assisting Itential’s global customers in developing, implementing and deriving value from their automation strategies using the Itential Automation Platform. For the majority of his career, Morgan has focused on assisting large enterprise and service provider organizations in maximizing the business impact of new technologies as an architect, consultant, author, and industry speaker.
