The cloud-native structure of 5G core networks favors a multivendor environment and this will make the software-as-a-service business model more common. Operators will be able to break out of existing vendor lock-in and choose individual components that raise the performance of specific network functions thereby allowing them to differentiate their offering and gain a competitive edge. How they choose their suppliers and integrate the different components will become an important factor to success.
