This week saw Apple debuting the new Apple watch across a handful of boutique retailers in major cities worldwide including Colette in Paris, Maxfield in Los Angeles and Dover Street Market in Tokyo and London ahead of releases across its own stores. While Apple tests the market with its innovative product positioning strategy that sees the top tech company associating its latest gadget with fashion and luxury, the ecommerce giant, Amazon brings a complementary offering - a shopping app for the new smartwatch that among others, features more than 3,000 third-party apps.
The Amazon shopping app is expected to be available on Apple Watch in Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, U.S. and U.K. Designed for the on-the-go customer, the shopping app offers a tailored Amazon experience, providing voice search and quick tap features including 1-Click purchase and save to Wish List. The Amazon shopping app allows customers with an Apple Watch to search the Amazon catalog and find glanceable product information such as product name, price, shipping information, product images and star ratings. With 1-Click Purchase, customers can conveniently go from search to purchase in seconds, making it even easier to order familiar items.
According to Amazon, the shopping app is a companion to the Amazon mobile shopping app for iPhone. Customers can update to the latest version of the Amazon app on iPhone and the Amazon icon will automatically be available on their Apple Watch.
