Last week, Apple announced the launch of the new iPhone 13 range, which consists of four new models: the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The new iPhones are expected to hit shelves later this month, with prices starting at $699. The latest set of devices from Apple have enhanced features and functionality, including an advanced dual camera system, the latest A15 Bionic chip (which is up to 50% faster than the competition), a new processor and larger batteries, which will give the iPhone approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours of extra battery life each day.
Commenting on the iPhone 13 launch, Biju Nair, President of Global Connected Living at Assurant said, “The new iPhone 13 range has focused on upgrading the features that matter most to consumers—longer battery life, more powerful processors and camera/video improvements. Apple has shipped a record 239 million devices this year and analysts predict that device revenues will be 41% higher this fiscal year. While 5G penetration remains low in the US (and globally), the fierce competition between carriers with trade-in promotions is going to be a key driver in encouraging upgrade cycles and retaining subscribers.
There had been rumors that Apple was to include satellite communication capabilities in the iPhone 13 and that ended up not being the case. Satellite communication would enable iPhone users to communicate when there is no wireless signal, much like iMessage, using Wi-Fi. While it’s not something Apple is focused on now, one could see this being made available to iPhones users as an alternative to roaming when travelling overseas.”
