Telefónica Spain has chosen Oracle Communication Session Border Controller for its full portfolio of services which include residential services, mobile rich communication services (RCS), business services including SIP trunking, interconnection to support agreements with other CSPs, and Voice over LTE (VoLTE).

Oracle said that its Session Border Controller offers virtualization for deployment flexibility and network agility, helping to ease Telefónica’s transition as it deploys its NFV platform, UNICA. It enables the operator to deliver trusted, first-class real-time communications services across Internet Protocol (IP) network borders. The product is currently used for a variety of services and applications from Voice over IP (VoIP) to any services enabled by IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) - including VoLTE, video conferencing and calling, presence, instant messaging, IP television (IPTV), GSM Association’s IP Exchange (IPX), and femtocell or Wi-Fi - enabled fixed-mobile convergence.

Ángel Blázquez Martín, Core Network Director, Telefónica Spain
We are committed to offering the kinds of innovative services that our customers are demanding. The first step is creating the modern and reliable network that can accommodate the connectivity that these services require.

Doug Suriano, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Communications
As CSPs provide more converged communications services to their subscribers, flexibility and security in the network become even more critical. Oracle Communications Session Border Controller is proven to deliver a solution to this challenge to many CSPs around the world, including for Telefónica Spain.
