Vodafone recently announced a new €100 million four-year contract with Scottish power company, SP Energy Networks, for performance monitoring and fault identification of energy infrastructure and to support the implementation of a new smart grid technology.

The project will cover more than 3.5 million homes and businesses across the UK. Performance data gathered and analysed by Vodafone will assist SP Energy Networks in prioritising network improvement plans. 

Under the contract, Vodafone will operate and enhance remote monitoring data systems across more than 110,000 km of overhead lines and underground cables and more than 30,000 substations in Central and Southern Scotland, Merseyside and North Wales.
