French media group and owner of CanalPlus and the Universal Music Group, Vivendi this week announced that it has completed the deal to acquire 80% stake in Dailymotion from Orange for 217 million euros. Vivendi is expected to revamp Dailymotion to become a leading international over-the-top distribution platform.

The acquisition is part of Vivendi’s long term digital strategy and marks its expansion into video and TV distribution, leveraging Dailymotion's 3 billion video views per month and also its programmatic video exchange - the Dailymotion Video Exchange (DMX) for delivery of video advertisements.
