Smartphones have taken over laptops as the most used device for Internet access, says Ofcom. If so, then everyone is accessing content on their Smartphones, and content over Smartphones is delivered via thousands of Apps, which means that Apps are becoming the gateway to the Internet and all online services.
Does this mean that service providers, including Mobile Network Operator must first and foremost invest in developing a winning App, that is a gateway to all the services, plans and content it offers? In an App economy, is not using an App equivalent to not having a presence on the web?
