Telenor announced that the number of customers that have downloaded its WowBox in Bangladesh has reached 1.5 million users in September. Launched in May this year, the lifestyle App that was developed by Telenor Digital for Grameenphone customers, provides an easy access to a range of lifestyle benefits including daily trending articles, sport results, in-built games, free music, lifestyle articles, discounts at popular hotels and concert/movie tickets, among others. The app also enables Telenor to establish communication with individual customers directly.

According to Telenor, WowBox has become an important channel for Grameenphone, reaching out to a relevant base of their prepaid customers on Android Smartphones. Today, WowBox accounts for about 85,000 daily sales of Grameenphone products with, 50MB data and 1-day Facebook pack, as the most popular, said the operator. Telenor said that more than 20% of daily active users purchase a data pack within WowBox the same day, increasing its average revenue per user.

Following the successful rollout in Bangladesh, Telenor said that it is evaluating Telenor's other markets in Asia, like Telenor Pakistan and Telenor Myanmar, for future launches in 2016.

Through WowBox, Grameenphone can offer a controlled real estate on the device interface, which provides a unique opportunity to manage the customer relationship directly. WowBox has also implemented a loyalty reward scheme for Grameenphone product purchases made within the App.
